To create a new calculation:
Right-click the list of calculations and select insert.
In caption, type a short description of your calculation. This will help identify your calculation when it appears in the calculations list.
Select the calculation type and the custom settings (sub-population, universe, weighting, level).
Click OK.
For calculations used in cross tabs (not flat counts), you can specify where calculations will appear by selecting from the following:
Display a calculation on the intersection of rows and columns;
Display a calculation on the rows;
Display a calculation on the columns;
Display a calculation with the questions;
The calculations of the totals are defined by the cross-tab (see note below);
Hide this calculation (but leave it available for arithmetic or conditional formatting); see note below.
the calculations of the total are defined by the cross tabs is cleared (de-selected), then non-contextual totals will be used (i.e. the total will not necessarily correspond to the sum of counts present in the intersection of the cells). The total in row and total in column tabs will be accessible. You can then choose the calculation type, and the custom settings.hide this calculation is selected, then your calculation will not appear in tables or charts. However, it can still be used as the basis of further calculations (using script calculations), or in conditional formatting.To set up a calculation based on another calculation, select a calculation type of calculation arithmetic (number) or calculation arithmetic (string). For more information, see calculation arithmetic.
You can click number formatting... to set the appearance of figures in this calculation. The formatting window appears, in which the available options are as follows:
Use default: If this option is selected, the default values will be used for the other options in this window. If you clear (de-select) this option, you can over-ride the defaults by selecting or clearing the other options.
Digits after decimal point: Specify the number of decimals you require, if you want the counts to appear with decimal values. For example, the number 150 will be displayed as 150.00 if you indicate 2 decimals.
Show % sign: If you select this option, the % sign will appear to the right of count values. For example, 150 will become 150%.
Wrap text with parentheses: If selected, this option causes counts to be surrounded by parentheses. For example, 150 becomes (150).
Replace 0 by: If you require a custom character (or characters) to be displayed in place of null counts, enter it here.
Replace n/a by: If you require a custom character (or characters) to be displayed in place of N/A responses, enter it here.
Click advanced options... to set options on column significance. Depending on the calculation type, one of the following windows appears (follow the links below for details):
