If you're dealing with a large database, whether due to the number of questions (60+) or the number of interviews (700+), we strongly advise you to invert your database, as this will significantly speed up table generation times. Although you can only invert your database in AskiaAnalyse, AskiaVista can load and handle inverted databases, and benefit from the speed improvements they provide.
To invert your entire database, in the tools menu select re-invert database. Alternatively, if the database has been inverted before, you can choose to invert database incrementally. This inverts only the data that has been added since the database was last inverted.
While the inversion is being carried out, AskiaAnalyse will display the progress towards completion. The time taken will depend on the number of questions in your project, the number of interviews and the speed of your computer, as well as the speed of your network or local access to your QES file. When the inversion is completed, you will need to restart AskiaAnalyse in order for the inverted data to be used.
When the database is first inverted, AskiaAnalyse will create a new sub-directory within the folder where your QES is located, which will be automatically named as [name of the QES file without extension].dat. For example, if your QES file is called august.qes, the new directory will be called august.dat.
AskiaAnalyse includes an image file for each variable from your questionnaire and the data will no longer be read from your QES file but from these new files instead.
