Importing delimited ASCII data into an existing questionnaire (AskiaTools)

Use this feature to import a delimited ASCII file into an existing QES file.

To access this feature, ensure your QES or database is open. Then, open the file menu and select import data, then delimited ASCII....  Indicate the path to your ASCII source file. In the settings section, specify which separators are used in your delimited ASCII file. Then define the other options accordingly, and click OK.

Options

Option Description

Question separator

Indicates the question's separator ("TAB", ";", ":", ",").

Multiple response separator

Indicates the response's separator for multiple-response questions ("TAB", ";", ":", ",").

Question captions on the first line

Select this option to indicate that the first line of the ASCII file contains the question captions.

Import lines with errors

Select this option to import the lines with errors.

Always use '.' as the decimal point

Select this option to indicate that the decimal point is always '.'

Import closed

Specifies the format of items for the closed questions. It is possible to import the "Response order", the "Captions", the "Entry codes" or the " Numeric entry codes" of items.
