Incomplete data analysis...  (AskiaTools)

Use this feature to analyse survey drop-outs. AskiaTools enables you to see at which point in the questionnaire respondents decided to leave, and thereby try to evaluate the scenarios explaining their dropping out. This analysis of incomplete data will generate a *.txt file listing the questionnaire data-entry mask, and, beside each question, the number of respondents who dropped out.

To carry out an incomplete data analysis:

  1. Open the appropriate *.QES file, or SQL database.
  2. In the tools menu, select incomplete data analysis. The following dialog appears:

The available options are:

Option Description

Output file

Type the path and filename of the output file (where the data will be stored), or click ... and specify the path and filename in the file dialog.

Note that the export can be carried out in CSV format (where the separator character is a comma), or as TXT (where the separator is a tab).

Routing log

This option allows you to analyse which routings are causing questions to be skipped. It writes out a log file in comma-separated format, that can be opened in Excel or another spreadsheet program. The routing log shows details for the following routing types: only ask if, do not ask, go to, set value and hide.

Note that for loops, the routing log does not show the individual iterations; if the loop is skipped, the log includes the shortcut of the loop and its variable(s).

If you declare the routing log to be the same file as your output file (see above), then the routing log content is placed at the bottom of your output file.

Additional info

In this option, you can request additional interview information (IDs, Start Interview, End Interview) for incompletes. Depending on which option you select, either no such information will be included, or it will be placed after each question, or at the end in a table of its own.

Show summary of completes per question

Select this option if you want to display a summary of completes per question.

Check completes Select this option to check the data for missing data in completed records.
Use completes only If you select this option, drop-out information will only be listed for completed records.

Interview started after

If you select this option, and a date in the list-box, then only interviews that began after that date will be selected.

Additional filter

Here, you can select the interviews to be selected according to a script (click ... next to additional filter and enter the script).

The data will be written out in the following format:
