Mark a selection of interviews as complete or incomplete (AskiaTools)

AskiaTools enables you to mark specific interview as either complete or incomplete.

To mark interviews as complete or incomplete:

  1. Open the appropriate *.QES file or database.
  2. In the edit menu, select mark a selection of interviews, then select as incomplete ... or as complete....
  3. Set the options appropriately, as described below, and click OK.

The following options are available:

Option Description
Pick a random selection of

If you select this option and enter a number in the adjacent box, you will limit the number of interviews that will be marked to the specified number. For example, if you enter 50 in the box, then a maximum of 50 interviews will be marked. The selection to be marked will be selected randomly from the data.

If you also set up a filter using the other options in the window (date, additional filter, etc.), then interviews will be selected for marking only if they satisfy that filter.

Interview started after (including)

If you select this option, and a date in the list-box, then only interviews that began on or after that date will be marked.

Interview started after (excluding)

If you select this option, and a date in the list-box, then only interviews that began after that date will be marked. Note that interviews that started on the exact date will not be marked.

Additional filter

Here, you can specify the interviews to be marked according to a script (click ... next to additional filter and enter the script).

Set value to a question

In this section, you can set the value of a status variable (for example, to be DQ Failure). This alleviates the need to do a separate edits run after marking records as incomplete.

To use this feature, select the checkbox set a value to a question, then select the status variable in question. Finally, in value, enter a value or expression that will be set in the status question in records that are marked as incomplete. Example values and expressions:

  • 0
  • ??completion?? + 5
