Changing the questionnaire structure in myView (AskiaAnalyse)
In this topic:
Managing questions and chapters
You can add new chapters and remove, move and recover individual questions and chapters. This is achieved by right-clicking in the myView tab and selecting the context menu commands as follows:
- Insert chapter: inserts a new chapter below the selected question/s or chapter/s. You can then type a name for the chapter. Note that you can rename the chapter at a later point in time by selecting it, then clicking its name.
- Remove: removes one or more questions and chapters from myView, according to the sub-command you select:
- Selected questions: removes from myView all questions you currently have selected. You can select several questions by holding down CTRL as you click them; you can select several adjacent questions by holding down SHIFT as you click the first and last ones in the group you wish to select.
- Zero based in selected questions: removes from myView any questions you currently have selected which have a base of 0. You can select several questions by holding down CTRL as you click them; you can select several adjacent questions by holding down SHIFT as you click the first and last ones in the group you wish to select.
- Zero based everywhere: removes from myView all questions from the whole questionnaire that have a base of 0.
- Recover removed questions...: allows you to restore (un-delete) questions or chapters you have previously removed. The
recover questions dialog appears. Select the questions or chapters you want to recover, and click OK.
- Move up: moves the selected question/s and chapter/s upwards in the question tree.
- Move down: moves the selected question/s and chapter/s downwards in the question tree.
- Move left: un-indents the selected question/s and chapter/s (in other words, if they are subordinate to a question or chapter, it "promotes" them so they are no longer subordinate).
- Move right: indents the selected question/s and chapter/s (in other words, it makes them subordinate to the question or chapter above them).
Managing responses
Responses in myView can be managed by sending them to the rows and columns tabs of table definition, organising them there, then copying them back to the myView. You can manage them in the same way you manage responses in the rows and columns tabs; you can re-order, group and re-caption them, and calculated responses.
In the following example, we have sent some questions to the rows and columns tab, and reorganised the responses to one of the questions:

We have:
- added a grouping called Top 2;
- added a grouping called Bottom 2;
- added a calculated response called Top - Bottom;
- changed the response caption of the third response;
- changed the caption of the first question;
- re-ordered some of the options.
Once you have made the desired modifications to one or more questions, you can copy them back to myView. To do so, select the question/s, then right-click and click set as myView default. Note that the contents of the distribution panel are updated to reflect your changes, showing the new response names and structure. Note: if you change your mind, you can reset the responses; see resetting the responses below.
Note: if you edit the question name, then use set as myView default to send your changes back to myView, the question name will not be updated in myView. However, if you send the question to the rows or columns at a later point in time, it will have the updated name in the rows or columns tab.
Resetting the responses
If you make changes to the responses but subsequently want to reset them, select the question(s) in the myView tab, then right-click and click reset responses. If you change your mind about this reset, you can undo it by using undo in the toolbar (and redo will re-apply the reset you have just undone):

Using myView to clean a questionnaire with many loops
You can use myView to clean up your questionnaire, e.g. to remove un-needed loops. You can move the loop into the rows and columns tab, then, for example, deselect some codes. If you right-click set as myView default, you will be prompted to remove the developed questions that relate to these codes (see image below).
