Managing portfolio link themes (AskiaVista)

Askiavista allows you to create your own custom look and feel, known as a Theme, for your portfolio links. You can then select this theme when defining your portfolio links, allowing you to instantly set their appearance, and ensure the look is consistent between your portfolios. You might create multiple different themes, for example, a theme for each client.

To manage your portfolio link themes, when you are creating or editing a portfolio link, click Manage.

Note that creating a theme requires knowledge of HTML and CSS.

Creating a brand new portfolio link theme

To create a new portfolio link theme, you need to have a suitable CSS file ready that defines the theme. The easiest way to do this is to download the CSS definition file for an existing theme, edit that, and then upload it as the new theme. For example, you might edit the Default theme that is provided by AskiaVista.

To download and edit a theme file:

  1. If the Theme manager  is not already open, when creating or editing a portfolio link click Manage.
  2. In the drop-down list at the top of the Theme manager, select the theme you want to download.
  3. Click Download.
  4. Follow the instructions in your browser window to save the zip file on your computer or network drive.
  5. In the zip file, locate the file theme.css and edit this. You can now upload this file as a new theme; see the instructions below.

To create a new theme:

  1. If the Theme manager  is not already open, when creating or editing a portfolio link click Manage.
  2. At the top of the Theme manager, click Create a new theme:
    icn-new(1)
  3. Click Select file, and specify the CSS file containing the theme definition (see above for details of how to download and edit a theme file).
  4. At the bottom of the Theme manager, click Save.
  5. Click Close to close the Theme manager.

  2. To quickly find someone in the drop-down list, start typing part of the person's name, and the list will be filtered to show the people whose names contain the letters you type.
  3. Select the person from the drop-down list which appears.
  4. Click Add (you can add several people at once if you wish; this means that if you are adding multiple people, there is no need to click Add after every name).
