In AskiaSurf, a question is a variable in a campaign that is presented to the respondent and has the capacity to contain data provided by the respondent (but may be blank if the respondent does not encounter the question due to routing in the questionnaire, or if the respondent simply chooses not to answer).
The questions in your campaign will probably change over time with each wave. Questions may be removed, new questions added, or existing ones modified to suit the goals of the research. AskiaSurf allows you to handle these changes to the questionnaire with ease by identifying and matching equivalent questions and responses across successive waves.
Questions are read into the campaign from the volume file or database that you specify for a given wave (typically from an Askia QES file). There are several possible types of question (single, multi, numeric, etc.: please see the AskiaDesign Assistant for further details on question types).
