This AskiaSurf dialog allows you to view the differences between two questions that are imperfectly matched (highlighted in yellow), and quickly update the campaign question to match the source question if you wish. One of the questions will already be in the campaign (this is the campaign question), the other will be in the volume source (this latter question is the source question).
The dialog is reached by right-clicking an imperfectly matched question in the reconciliation view and selecting view question differences.
At the top of the dialog, a list of the differences is displayed. The type of difference is shown, together with details of any changes you have made. Click an item to view further details:
in the details box, a description of the selected difference is shown;
in source, relevant details for the source question are shown (e.g. if the response count is different for the two questions, this box displays the number of responses in the source question);
in campaign, relevant details for the campaign question are shown (e.g. if the response count is different for the two questions, this box displays the number of responses in the campaign question);
For some differences, you can manually edit the relevant aspect in the campaign question simply by typing in the campaign box. For example, if the question captions differ, you can manually edit the caption for the campaign to match that of the source question. Any changes you make in this fashion are applied only if you click OK to close the dialog.
The following commands are available:
Update all: This command will copy all values from the source question to the campaign question. In other words, the campaign question will be changed so that it is identical to the source question. Note: provided you use inheritance when adding future waves to the campaign, you will not need to perform this update again.
New question: This allows you to create a new question in the campaign identical to the source question, which will appear in the current and any subsequent waves. This is useful when a question has changed so much over time that is effectively a new question.
When you select this command, you are asked to confirm your actions. Answering yes will create the new question.
The original campaign question will be removed from the campaign. The question is shaded in gray and a blue trash can icon appears in the match state column to indicate that it has been removed; it will not appear at all in later waves.
The matching between the original campaign question and the source question is automatically broken, and the new campaign question is matched to the source question.
When you use this command, the question differences dialog closes automatically, and you are returned to the reconciliation view.
