The edit menu contains the following commands:

Runs the current table definition, displaying the table and/or chart output. You can also press F5 to achieve the same effect. |

Back to definition |
When you are viewing table/chart output, this command returns you to the table definition view. You can also press Shift+F5 to achieve the same effect. |

Select waves... |
Set which waves of data are included in your tables/chart results: data for selected waves appear in your results, data for de-selected waves do not. You can select any combination of waves in your project. This command is available only when you are working with an askiasurf (QEW) file. |

Select current level... |
Set the current data level. |
|
Select current language... |
Set the current language used to display the survey and its table/chart results. Note you can only select languages that are actually defined in the current survey. |
| Send to rows |
Sends the selected question to the rows of the current tab template. This command is available only when a question or response is selected. |

Send to columns |
Sends the selected question to the columns of the current tab template. This command is available only when a question or response is selected. |

Send to edges |
Sends the selected question to the edges of the current tab template. This command is available only when a question or response is selected. |

Group responses... |
Create a new variable by grouping existing items into sub-totals. |
|
Group values... |
Create custom intervals for the selected numeric question. |
| Change level | Re-code the selected question into another data level. Select as a closed question or as a numeric question, as appropriate. |
| Create a variable... |
Create a new variable by selecting or combining responses to existing questions. |
| Modify... |
Edit an existing variable definition. It will display the same dialog as Create a new variable, to allow you to modify the variable. Note: This option is only available if the currently selected variable is a calculated variable.

| Delete |
Delete the selected calculated variable. Note: This option is only available if the currently selected variable is a calculated variable.

| Generate fast metadata files |
You may use this option to improve the performance of askiaanalyse when working either with standard surveys (.qes files) or when using askiasurf. This will reorganise the files so as to optimise their performance and may result in faster processing times, especially with larger or more complex sets of tables. It will result in the creation of some additional files:

| Recalculate all variables |
If your data changes, use this command to re-calculate the data in all calculated variables in your survey. You do not need to use this command when new data is added, as askiaanalyse will automatically recalculate variables in this situation. You only need to use this command in the following situations:
