This section of the general tab allows you to define and select the calculations that you want to display in your results tables.
Calculations are categorised as Flat or Cross:
Flat calculations appear in one-dimensional tables (tables with questions only in the rows or columns, but not both);Cross calculations appear in two-dimensional tables (tables with questions in both the rows and columns). The calculations that appear in your table – Flat or Cross – are always appropriate to the number of dimensions in the table. If you have a table with a question in the rows and nothing in the columns (a one-dimensional table), then the flat calculations defined in your tab template are displayed. If you then add a question to the columns, making it a two-dimensional table, the cross calculations in your tab template are displayed instead. For a description of the available Flat and Cross calculations, see calculation types.
The columns in the calculations section of the general tab are as follows:
Name: A short description of the calculation.
Conditional formatting: Indicates whether conditional formatting is present on the calculation.
Use for table: Indicates whether the calculation will be used in any graphs you create.
Use for chart: Indicates whether the calculation will be used in any graphs you create.
Custom settings: custom settings (Sub-population, Universe, Weighting, Level) will be displayed when the calculation's settings differ from the table definitions' overall general settings.
Ranking: Indicates whether or not ranking is enabled for the calculation.
Insert: Insert a new calculation.
Cut: Cut the selected calculation and place it on the clipboard. (CTRL+X).
Copy: Copy the selected calculation to the clipboard (CTRL+C).
Paste: Paste the calculation from the clipboard (CTRL+V).
Use for table: If this option is selected, the calculation will be used in tables. When you select this option, the word 'table' appears in the display column.
Use for chart: If this option is selected, the calculation will be used in charts. When you select this option, the word 'yes' appears in the use for charts column.
Activate ranking: Toggles ranking on or off for the selected calculation. The status of ranking (on or off) is indicated in the ranking column.
Conditional formatting: Allows you to control the appearance of table calculations, according to the value displayed. For example, you might want to display negative numbers in red. For details, see conditional formatting.
Show flat calculations: If this option is selected, the calculations available to one-dimensional tables will be displayed. Note that you must insert at least one question on a row and no questions in columns.
Show cross calculations: If this option is selected, calculations available in cross calculations will be displayed. Note that you must insert at least one question on a row and at least on question in columns.
Remove: Removes the selected calculation from the list.
Properties: Allows you to define or modify the calculation properties.
