General tab (AskiaAnalyse)

The general tab in the table definition window allows you to define the main properties and settings of your tables and charts.

Note: if the option simplify general tab is switched on, then certain advanced features will instead appear in the advanced tab, making the general tab easier for new AskiaAnalyse users. This is noted where appropriate in the descriptions below.

The options are as follows:

Option Description

Title

Note: this option is found in the advanced tab if you have the program option simplify general tab switched on.

The title for your table/chart specification. You can display a custom sub-title and table of contents, each of which can differ from the main title. To do so, separate the titles with double vertical bars, as follows:

Title||sub title||table of contents title

Note that If you omit the table of contents title, then it will be the same as the main title. If you omit the table of contents title and the sub-title, the sub-title will be blank, and the table of contents title will be the same as the main title.

Sub-population

Allows you to define or select the sub-population that will be used in the table/chart.

Note: you can drag and drop responses directly into the sub-population box.

Universe

Note: this option is found in the advanced tab if you have the program option simplify general tab switched on.

Allows you to define or select the table/chart calculation base.

Weighting

Allows you to select the weighting for the table/chart. You can also define weightings here.

Level

Note: this option is found in the advanced tab if you have the program option simplify general tab switched on.

Allows you to select the analysis level of the table/chart.

The options {Row level} and {Column level} allow you to set up a tab template definition based on the first question in the rows or columns as appropriate. Such a tab template can be used again, as the level found in the first row or column question will be used, no matter what the name of that level happens to be in a particular data set.

Waves

Allows you to select wave or waves that will be included in the table/chart. This field is only applicable if you are working on an askiasurf multiple-wave project.

Tab template

Allows you to select or define the table model used. The table model defines what will be included in your tables (e.g. totals, captions) and options such as sorting and number formatting.

The following buttons are available:

new(1) New table template;

Save the table template;

Delete the table template;

Define default (this table template will be selected for each new table definition).

Settings: Change the settings for the table.

Chart template

Note: this option is found in the advanced tab if you have the program option simplify general tab switched on.

Allows you to select or define the chart model used. The chart model defines what type of chart will be used (e.g. column, bar, cluster, 2D, 3D).

In AskiaAnalyse, the following buttons are available in the general tab:

Modify the chart;

new(1) New chart template;

Save the chart template;

Delete the chart template;

Define default (this chart template will be selected for each new chart definition).

Calculations

Allows you to define and select the calculations that you want to display in your tables and charts. Select the items you want to appear, and ensure the items you want to omit are not selected.
