This form, found on the tools menu under options..., defines the settings relevant to AskiaAnalyse that are stored in the registry of your PC. Note that some of these settings will only take effect after re-opening your questionnaire.
The options form (and the description here) are organised into these sections:
Each section may be opened or closed by clicking on the + or - button to the left of the section heading.
Options may either be set from one of the displayed drop-down list of options (which are shown here as highlighted keywords), or by entering a specified value.

| Available calculations by default |
Determines which calculations are available by default when defining tables: none, Askia crossed, Askia simple, Askia table question or from a specific template. To set up a custom list of available calculations, create a new tab template, set up the flat and crossed calculations as desired, and then save the template. Finally, select that template in this option. Whenever you create a new tab definition, the available calculations will be taken from your template. |
| SETTING | OPTIONS |
|---|---|
| Select Don't Know modality |
This option determines how a question's Don't Know modality will be treated, if present, when a question is dragged and dropped into the rows, columns or edges of a table.
This option only determines whether the Don't know modality is selected or not at the time the drag-and-drop is performed. You will be able to select or de-select it manually at any time once it is in the table.
|
| Select Not Asked modality |
This option determines how a question's Not Asked modality, will be treated, if present, when a question is dragged and dropped into the rows, columns or edges of a table.
This option only determines whether the Not Asked modality is selected or not at the time the drag-and-drop is performed. You will be able to select or de-select it manually at any time once it is in the table.
|
| Sort question (by default) |
This option determines how a question's sort property will applied when a question is dragged and dropped into the rows, columns or edges of a table.

These options relate to myView, the custom questionnaire trees you can create and share with co-workers. For more information, see introduction to myView.
| SETTING | OPTIONS |
|---|---|
| Default myView name |
Enter a name that will be used for any future myViews you create. By default, this option is set to myView |
| myView back colour | Allows you to specify a background colour for any future myViews you create. A custom (non-white) colour allows you to see at a glance when you are working in the myView tab in the left-hand pane (as opposed to the standard questionnaire tree, whose background is white). By default, this option is set to white. |
| SETTING | OPTIONS |
|---|---|
| Implicit weight variables |
Askiaanalyse will automatically create weighting(s) if it finds variables with shortcuts matching the name specified here. To specify more than one shortcut, separate each name with commas (,). |
| Write a report after each weighting |
|
| Accuracy (number of decimal digits) | Enter the number of digits after the decimal point that you wish the calculated weight value to contain. |
| Number of possible iterations per question | The maximum number of iterations allowed per question. Usually, weights converge to an acceptable solution after a few iterations. In some cases, this is not possible, so increasing the number of iterations (while also increasing the processing time) may allow an acceptable weighting solution to be found. |
| Minimum weight | Enter the smallest weight value that can be defined. |
| Maximum weight |
Enter the largest weight value that can be defined. |
| Run each wave independently |
This option applies only to projects with multiple waves (i.e. those using AskiaSurf QEW files),.
|
| SETTING | OPTIONS |
|---|---|
| Create the sub-population if it does not exist |
|
| Use the existing population if it is already defined |
|
| Always use profile as defined in the questionnaire |
|
| Always use tab-template as defined in the questionnaire or library |
|
| When an unknown tab-template is found |
This option determines what happens when you open a portfolio, and it contains a named tab template that does not exist on your computer.
|
| When an unknown tab-style is found |
This option determines what happens when you open a portfolio, and it contains a named tab style that does not exist on your computer.
|
| Max number of threads | This setting allows you to improve AskiaAnalyse's performance when viewing portfolios, if your computer has a multi-core processor.
By increasing the number of threads used by AskiaAnalyse, you increase the amount of computing power that can be used to display portfolios. The maximum value you should enter is the number of cores your processor has. For example, if your computer has a quad-core processor (i.e. four cores), you could set this value to 4, to make use of all four cores, and get the maximum possible performance benefit. The default value is 1 (and should be used for computers without multi-core processors). The highest possible value is 15. |
| SETTING | OPTIONS |
|---|---|
| Show questions in other levels |
|
| Prefix before questions in other levels | If you require specific text to precede questions in data levels outside the currently-selected one, enter it here. |
| Always create developed shortcuts with the question shortcut |
|
This group of options determines the captions that are displayed in your tables for groups of numeric values. In the captions, the place-holders %1 and %2 are replaced by the values that appear in the caption as the lower bound and upper bound of the group. For example, if a numeric group contains the values between 3 and 4, then the caption "from %1 to %2" would be displayed as "from 3 to 4".
| SETTING | OPTIONS |
|---|---|
| Less than %1 |
Determines the caption used for numeric groups where the range of values is less than a specific value (%1). |
| %1 or less | Determines the caption used for numeric groups where the range of values is equal to a value (%1), or less than it. |
| From %1 to %2 | Determines the caption used for numeric groups where the range of values is between two values (%1 and %2). |
| More than %1 | Determines the caption used for numeric groups where the range of values is more than a specific value (%1). |
| %1 or more | Determines the caption used for numeric groups where the range of values is equal to a value (%1), or more than it. |
