Creating a raw data table (AskiaVista)

AskiaVista allows you to create flat tables populated with raw data at the interview level. In a raw data table, a row is created for each interview, and a column is included for each question that you place in the table. You can export this table, either directly to Excel (in .XLSX format) or by adding it to an existing or new portfolio, which can then be shared via a portfolio link or exported to Excel. People viewing the portfolio will be able to click on the question and view all the underlying verbatim responses. This is particularly useful for open text questions, as it allows the verbatim data to be viewed.

To create a new raw data table:

  1. First, ensure you are in Raw data view. To open this view, in the View menu at the top of the screen, select Raw data.
  2. To add questions/loops to your table, simply drag and drop them from the question list (in the left-hand panel) into the table view, or to the Questions panel above the table view.
  3. You can now save this raw data table to a portfolio, export it to MS Excel or embed it on an external page.
