The most important screen areas when defining a table or chart are:
Questionnaire panel: At the left-hand edge of the screen, this panel allows you to move questions or variables into your table's rows, columns or edges.
Table/chart results: Located at the lower center of the screen, the table/chart results displays the crosstab you are currently defining. It updates automatically as you make changes to your table definition (except when updates are paused). For more information see viewing the table.
Rows, Columns and Edges panels (cross-tabs only): Located at the upper center of the screen, this area allows you to view and edit which questions and responses will appear in your cross-tabs and charts. See rows, columns and edges panels for details. Note that you can switch between the columns and edges panels by clicking Columns or Edges as appropriate.
Questions panel (raw data tables only): Located at the upper center of the screen, this area allows you to view and edit which questions and responses will appear in your raw data tables.
Properties panel: Allows you to set the options for the table/chart. This includes the overall layout, what type of information will be included (totals, captions, etc.), and other options such as sorting. See table properties for further details.
questionnaire panel, shows the details of any responses in the selected question, and allows you to drag and drop individual responses into your table definitions. See distribution panel for further details.
