Table properties (AskiaVista)

The properties panel (located at the right-hand edge of the screen) allows you to define the various settings of your tables and charts. Properties can be saved to a template, which can then be applied to other tables and charts, by selecting it from the Template drop-down menu.

The properties panel contains numerous options which are split into several categories. The categories are as follows:

To open any category, and see the options within it, click Expand next to its name:

icn-collapse-normal(5)

To collapse any category, and hide the options within it, click Collapse next to its name:

You can also hide the panel to create more screen space for the other panels, including the table view. To do so, click Collapse the panel:

icn-collapse-pgrid-normal(1)

The panel moves to the right-hand edge of the screen; you can show it again by clicking Expand the panel:

icn-expand-pgrid-normal(1)

At the top of the panel, a toolbar contains the following commands:

Command name Description

Collapse/expand categories

icn-collapse-normal(6)icn-expand-normal%285%29

Expands or collapses all of the categories in the properties panel with a single click.

Search properties

icn-search(2)

Allows you to search for a specific property. Your search will find matching property names, and any properties where one or more option texts contain the characters you search for.

When you click this icon, a search box appears; simply start typing the text you want to search for. All properties are instantly hidden, except for those with a name – or option texts – containing the text that you type.

For example, if you type break, then the Break table after property is displayed (because the name matches), as well as the Alignment property (because it has an option named Break table).

To show all of the available properties again, simply click the Search properties icon, or remove the text in the search input.

Save the template

icn-save-template-normal(3)

If you have loaded a saved template, and then made changes to the properties, this command saves these changes to the template.

To load a saved template, use the Template drop-down list.

Share the template

icn-share-normal(2)

Allows you to share the current template (the template selected in the Template drop-down list) with your co-workers and clients. The Sharing modal window appears, displaying the people who are currently allowed to access the template. Beside each name, two drop-down lists determine respectively the person's access rights and sharing rights.

To share the template with additional people, click the Search users input, and start typing part of a person's name. A list of people with this text in their names will be displayed; click their name and then click Add.

To remove someone from the list, click the Delete icon on their row.

To apply your changes, click Share.

Rename

This command is revealed if you click More:

icn-more

Allows you to rename the current template (the template selected in the template drop-down list). A modal window appears allowing you to type a new name for the template.

Save as

This command is revealed if you click More:

icn-more

Allows you to save a copy of the current template (the template selected in the Template drop-down list). A modal window appears allowing you to specify a name for the new copy of the template.

Remove

This command is revealed if you click More:

icn-more

Allows you to delete the current template (the template selected in the Template drop-down list). To help prevent accidental deletion of templates, you are asked to confirm the deletion. Note that you can only remove a template if you have sufficient access rights to do so; these are determined by the person who created the template.

Table styles

This command is revealed if you click More:

icn-more

Opens the Manage table styles modal window, which allows you to define your own table styles. The procedure is as follows:

  1. You first need to download a .CSS or .LESS file from askiavista using the Manage table styles modal.
  2. Edit the .CSS or .LESS file on your computer to create a new table style.
  3. Upload your new table style into AskiaVista, using the Manage table styles modal window.

For full details of table styles, see introduction to table styles.

Chart templates

This command is revealed if you click More:

icn-more

Opens the Manage chart templates modal window, which allows you to create, share, download and remove chart templates.

Note: It is possible to add other chart types to AskiaVista that are not available by default. To do so, see the Knowledge Base article: Adding new chart types to AskiaVista 6.x.

Set the template as default

icn-default-pgrid-normal

Sets the current template (the template selected in the Template drop-down list) as the default, i.e. the one that will be used whenever you create a new tab definition.

At the top of the panel, you will find the following options:

Command Description
Template

Allows you to load a saved properties Template. Properties templates contain a set of survey properties, and as such they can be saved for later use and then quickly applied to future surveys.

If you have loaded a saved template, and then made changes to the table properties, or to the questions in the rows, columns or edges, this command saves your changes to the template.

To load a saved template, use the Template dropdown list.

Apply to current survey only

Allows you to limit the use of the current properties template to the current survey (this template will not be visible when you are viewing another survey).
